HRHCare cares about our community. The PrEP Team will be presenting from 2pm to 3pm the following topics:

Why PrEP is important and provide data that backs up this positive information. We will talk a bit about HIV and where the numbers are today with the help of PrEP. We will also present a condom demonstration and talk about different intimate products ("sex toys") and proper cleaning. There will be time for questions and answers. This will surely be an informative event.

Your Presenters:

Meet Aarthi Nagaraja, M.D., Infectious Disease Specialist

Aarathi Nagaraja, MD, is an Infectious Disease Specialist, Internist, and Medical Director of HIV and Hepatis programs at the HRHCare Health Centers. She received her MBBS degree from Sri Ramachandra Medical College in Tamil Nadu, India, before completing both her Internship and Residency training in Internal Medicine at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. She then went on to complete an Infectious Disease Fellowship at New York Medical College and Medical Center in Valhalla. Before coming to HRHCare, she practiced at Westchester Medical Center as an Infectious Disease Specialist. Dr. Nagaraja is licensed to practice medicine in the State of New York and is board certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine, adding her Infectious Disease Certification in 2012.

Meet Karen Lugo, M.S. Medical Case Manager  

Karen Lugo has been in the HIV/AIDS field for over 25 years working with patients in psychiatric hospital, to end stage AIDS at Center for AIDS Care in Yonkers for 15 years until the facility closed. Karen also worked in the NYS Department of Corrections in the Prisoner AIDS Counseling and Education Department as well as working with Probation officers doing Moral Reconation Therapy-MRT; which is a cognitive-behavioral approach that treats a wide range of issues including substance abuse, domestic violence, trauma, parenting, job skills, and other issues along with HIV Testing and Counseling and facilitating other educational classes for people inside and out. Karen came to HRHCare January of 2012 as a Medical Case Manager and has supported the cause by working with the different departments at HRHCare and our community organizations in order to keep our communities healthier.

Meet Diana Chevere, PrEP Educator

Diana Chevere is the PrEP Program Coordinator for HRHCare for the Hudson Valley Region.  She has been with the agency for over 2 ½ years.  She has a Bachelors in Psychology and her background experience is in education and case management.  Diana is very passionate about educating the community on prevention for HIV and STDs.
